Job Description

Objective:

The objective of the Internship Program is to successfully develop highly potential university undergraduates/graduates as well as qualified internal associates, who with proper exposure, mentoring and development will have the opportunity to become a part of Starwood team. The program will include a range of formal and informal development opportunities at the hotels and at the Regional office which will also equip you to support line management in the delivery of IT projects. It will offer a structure that allows progression alongside knowledge acquisition.

Requirements:
  • Ability to work with a variety of technical skill levels to translate existing business processes into detailed business requirements for use by technical teams
  • Able to clearly articulate ideas both orally and in writing to both technical and business audiences
  • Adaptability and ability to multi-task, and strong problem solving skills are required
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio preferred
  • Professional conduct and appearance
Other Skills and Abilities:

Candidates should also have some experience, or will be expected to develop skills, in the following:

  • Communicating effectively: means speaking and writing clearly, expressing yourself well in groups and in one-on-one conversations
  • Customer service: implies a desire to identify and serve customers who may include the public, colleagues, partners and peers. It means focusing one’s efforts on discovering and meeting the needs of the customer/client
  • Project management: knowledge of and experience with tools and techniques for planning, organizing, monitoring and controlling projects and the information involved with those projects
  • Team player: Able to interact effectively with management and associates in Singapore and other regional offices and hotels, and able work independently, and/or as part of a team.

What to Expect:

  • Work with Training and Development team regarding training on using collaboration and content management tools
  • Work with the project lead to develop a test plans, strategy, success criteria, and scenarios for system testing and end-user testing
  • Researching and demonstrating products and common applications in cooperation with senior IT staff to find best-fit solutions for internal customers
  • Environmental scanning/research of industry best practices related to technology uses
  • Applying technical knowledge and project management skills for special assignments
  • Clearly articulating ideas both orally and in writing to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Performing business and systems analysis for new and existing applications
  • Participating in service and contract management activities
  • Participating as a member of project teams, and assisting in project-related duties
