Shipping Research Analyst (1 Year Internship)
This is a 1 year period internship role.
As a member of the Shipping Intelligence and Research team, the Analyst will help Vale to increase CFR sales competitiveness over the world for all of its products through strategic decisions.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Freight and Time Charter calculations
- Elaborate freight and shipping market reports
- Support the elaboration of Freight forecast studies for all segments of the industry including Capesize, Panamax, Handymax and Handysize (drybulk)
- Collect market information about freight market, commodities and logistics/ports investments over the world
- Tracking dry fleet of vessels worldwide
- Monitor in detail the shipping market and its correlated markets;
- Asset Financing (Capex, Opex) analysis
- Elaborate shipping strategy and overview presentations
- Update database of freight, bunker, port congestion, fleet, and commodities trade
- Develop risk management models to measure and mitigate risk parameters and exposures
- Elaborate visual and enhanced presentations on PowerPoint
- Develop tools, systems and methodologies to ensure detailed analysis of large databases
MAIN CHALLENGES
- Provide support to elaborate Vale’s shipping strategy for Iron ore, Manganese, Coal, Fertilizer
- Elaborate global shipping freight competitiveness analysis
- Monitoring global Shipping market evolution and trend
- Monitoring competition Shipping strategies
- Ensuring data and database are relevant and up to date
- Focus on ensuring cost competitiveness and efficiency is achieved with shipping and asset analysis
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE
- Degree (preferred disciplines in Finance/Economics/Business/Shipping)
- Knowledge in Finance, analytic skills and modeling
- Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint applications
- Able to conduct data analysis with high level critical thinking & reasoning
- Good presentation skills
- Excellent communication & inter-personal skills
- Independent and motivated individual
- Ability to multi-task
