Job Description

The Straits Network seeks highly driven interns that are focused on gaining critical skill sets from a workplace to enhance their competitive edge. As a Research & Business Development Intern, you will be instrumental in assisting the founding team in building and managing our network of “Knowledge Partners” - experts in various professional fields and industries in Asia. Our goal at The Straits Network is to streamline the market research process for investment managers by sourcing and identifying persons of interest to consult with. We provide access to primary research sources for top business leaders, such as private equity firms, hedge funds, venture capital firms, and strategy consultants, helping them develop insights and gather critical information that will inform their decisions, bringing them closer to that million-dollar deal. What You'll Do:

  • Develop your professional pitch and prose: Hone your business communication skills via direct interaction with experts in our network of ‘Knowledge Partners’. Acquire relevant vernacular and vocabulary through the process of sourcing and identify industry experts for consulting projects.
  • Apply classroom learning practically and effectively: Research and report on industry developments in key markets, mainly in Asia, utilizing your analytical skills and knowledge gained from classroom topics and case studies as a guide.
  • Brainstorm strategies and sales channels: Gain confidence in voicing your opinion, and make a real impact as you aid the founders with identifying new areas of business opportunities.
  • Foster your entrepreneurial spirit: Interested in starting a business? Find out what it’s like to grow a start-up from top to bottom, as you tackle every facet of the business side-by-side with the founders.

What We Seek:

  • Current student with a strong academic track record, preferably majoring in business

  • Good communication skills with a strong command of English, native fluency in any Asian languages is a plus

  • Self-starter with a high work rate, must be willing to take initiative

  • Positive, energetic, outgoing personality with attention to detail

  • Must be flexible and excited about working in a fast paced company
