Who we are

While preparing for university entrance exams in early 2010, Timothy sat at the back of a classroom in a Hong Kong tutoring centre, learning math exam tips along with 300 other students. Unable to afford private tuition and unable to ask questions, the struggle to get into university is very common. In 2011, he started a tutoring centre to take advantage of the great demand for good tutors. Snapask was born to level the playing field for quality tuition.

Why we’re doing this

There's a seismic shift in Hong Kong's tutoring market, from offline to online. Snapask is at the forefront of bringing quality tutoring into the pocket of every student, by matching university-level tutors with students on-demand. Hong Kong alone already boasts between USD 2-4 billion spent annually on private tuition. By escaping the physical confines of the classroom, tutoring centres and so-called cram schools; using Snapask, everyone can get academic questions they have answered at anytime.

Our mission

Officially founded in 2014, Snapask aims to give every student the tool to learn in the most customized manner, efficient and hassle-free, and yet in a minimal cost. Snapask, which released in January 2015, is a mobile app that allows students to ask questions about anything in one click. And we can connect them to the most eligible tutors by crowd-sourcing to provide a real-time one-to-one online class.

Partners & Supporters

Our worldwide partners and supporters, such as Cyberport, HKU, SPH Plug&Play, Chinaccelerator, Taiwan Startup Stadium etc., helped us launch and promote our killer-app in different markets. Now, we operate in Hong Kong, Taipei, Shanghai and Singapore. In August 2015, we raised US$1.8 million for pre-A round financing.

Job Description
Summary

As a Snapask Business Development Intern, you are responsible for developing new channels to reach potential users, performing interpersonal skills to keep relationships and driving revenue. If you are a good communicator, believe yourself as a salesperson and want to promote cutting-edge Ed-tech mobile app. Don't hesitate! Join Snapask! It's your time to show yourself.

  • Utilize various approaches, eg: campus campaigns, social media, phone calls and emails to continuously engage users and customers to drive revenue and generate future business, and share insights that build and promote Snapask.
Responsibilities
  • Come up with creative initiatives, implement and collaborate with Marketing Team to expand our network.
  • Target weekly sales and achieve it.
  • Update sales reports weekly, identify problems and work with the whole Sales Team to improve sales production.
  • Provide digital post-sales client relationship management to retain clients.
  • Understand the mission and products of Snapask. Continuously maintain and expand related knowledge.
Requirements
  • Be good at execution, and demonstrate empathy when reaching out to users and customers.
  • Fluent in English, however fluency in Mandarin will be a plus.
  • Dare to create original ideas.
  • Work from 6pm - 10pm, work time can be flexible.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective and balanced use of all methods of communication, including social media, phone call and written correspondence.
  • Analytical thinker comfortable with managing complex sales cycles.
Other
  • Interest in start-ups and enthusiasm about education is a plus.
  • The remunerations will be paid by SGD 6 per hour, plus 30% bonus for each sales generated.
