- We Are Looking For: Digital Designer Intern
The Digital Designer intern will involved design and implement web or mobile applications (Andriod/IOS) using a variety of cutting edge web and mobile technologies. The intern will work with project managers, and other developers & designers to provide support to end-users, analyze problems and develop solutions.
The intern should meet most (if not all) of the following requirements:RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Involves refinement of PHP/Java based backend as well as maintenance of basic features in IOS or Android mobile app
• Involves design and development of UI/UX for mobile and web
• Implement robust web-based solutions using a variety of platforms and technologies.
• Create cohesive and engaging user experiences across multiple device types.
• Look for opportunities to propose new technologies, share ideas and expand own skillset.REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Proficient in the fundamentals of web development: HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery.
• Ability to code in a clean and consistent manner with proper supporting documentation.
• Knowledge of version control practices using technologies such as Git and Subversion.
• Demonstrated experience with at least one server-side programming language such as PHP, Java, Python, Ruby, ASP.net or C#.
• Knowledge of responsive design techniques, media queries and frameworks such as Bootstrap.
• Capable of installing, configuring and maintaining a web server such as Apache, Nginx or Microsoft IIS.
• Ability to optimize web pages for performance and browser compatibility.
• Knowledge of object-oriented design methodologies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Participation in training sessions, meet-ups, or open-source projects.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ability to convert Photoshop and Illustrator designs into HTML page templates.
• Experience with content management systems such as Drupal, Joomla, WordPress, OpenCart, Magento, DotNetNuke, Umbraco, Kentico, Sitecore or Adobe Experience Manager.
• Experience implementing typical website features such as navigation, search, maps, photo galleries, upcoming events and sitemaps.
• Knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) techniques.
• Ability to work with relational database management systems such as MySQL or Microsoft SQL Server.
• Knowledge and understanding of UNIX operating systems.
• Experience with front-end Javascript frameworks such as AngularJS, Ember.js or Backbone.js.
