Company Profile
Led by former TV current affairs anchor and NMP, Viswa Sadasivan, IQ is a site for Singaporeans and PRs to raise burning issues and ask inconvenient questions. If you are someone who can't see the logic of a policy/programme, sees a recurring problem not addressed, or who's frustrated with pat answers repeated – you have an inconvenient question. It could be about public policy, politics, societal issues, arts and culture, education or the environment. Our aim is not only to serve as a platform for the airing of these questions, but for some of them to gain traction (through robust discussion and a dynamic up voting process by netizens). Every two weeks, the IQ team will pick a key topic for a video-recorded interview/panel debate with a key person accountable for the issue, be it a minister, CEO of a Statutory Board, or head of an NGO or company. Viswa Sadasivan will host this debate.

IQ hopes to be a credible interlocutor – trusted enough by the people, the government and key stakeholders – to promote an air of robust engagement that's not excessively adversarial. We aspire to be a site where questions are asked honestly and are answered by those accountable, directly. This is not easy to achieve, but we want to believe it can be achieved, in time and with patience and determination.
Job Description
If you have a point of view on issues surrounding Singapore — from politics, to society to environment or more — and a strong grasp of the English language, consider writing for IQ.
All we need are samples of your writing and a list of your pet subjects.
The pieces are:
- typically about 1.5pp or no more than 800 words long
- contains a provoking, or thought-provoking question for the readers' further consideration.
- It'll be a plus if the piece includes a call to action to kick start a discussion and keep it flowing.

This is a freelance arrangement open to Singaporean applicants only.
Writers will be remunerated according to experience, and may be assigned issues to cover.

** Please ignore the "Pay amount" stated in listing as it's a mandatory requirement. **
