Job Description
Interns sought for Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) in Sydney January/February 2012

Paid vacation intern work for students over the summer holiday in the weeks January 8 to February 24 this summer is being offered at the CBD Sydney office of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office.

Undergraduates studying Economics, Finance, Business, Law, International Studies, Government Studies, Journalism, Marketing and Music are all invited to apply.

The Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office (HKETO) in Sydney is the official representative office of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China. The HKETO was established in 1995 to strengthen economic ties with Australia and New Zealand.

The Office aims to promote and safeguard Hong Kong trade and economic interests in Australia and New Zealand as well as foster a better understanding of Hong Kong in the two countries. It provides enquiry and information services for the local public about events and developments in Hong Kong and maintains regular contact with the local media.

It also assists companies in Australia and New Zealand to expand and explore business opportunities in Hong Kong and Asia through direct investment, licensing, joint venture or sourcing. The Investment Consultant of the Office undertakes regular visits to various cities and offers advice to interested Australian and New Zealand businessmen.

The offices also accommodate Invest Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and the Hong Kong Tourism Board. All of whom are involved in building relationships between Hong Kong, New Zealand and Australia.

Hong Kong is the gateway to doing business with China, especially for smaller firms. The CEP (Closer Economic Partnership) between Hong Kong and China provides many opportunities for New Zealand businesses operating through Hong Kong.
