The Hollandse Club was founded in 1908 by Mr J.C. Koopman for the growing Dutch community in Singapore. He owned a house on Grange Road and used it as the first clubhouse. Soon members of the Hollandse Club acquired land off Cairnhill Road where their following clubhouse was built in 1912. Dutch companies supported the Club actively and financially. In 1952, the Hollandse Club moved to its current location off Adam Road, where in the 1970s, facilities were added and renovated and membership became less exclusively Dutch. In ’90s, a new round of renovations took place in and around the clubhouse and a two storey office block was realized. In 1998, the club had a membership of over 2,000 members. In 2008, the Hollandse Club celebrated its centenary in style and opened in 2011 6 Club rooms followed by 7 more in 2013. Today, the Hollandse Club is a vibrant family club with over 1400 members from over 40 different nationalities.
