ABOUT GRAIN:

GRAIN (www.grain.sg) is a tightly-knit creative collective that’s slightly over a year old. In that time, we’ve been helping organizations build rich, personal and long-lasting connections with their audiences through the medium of film.

Our past clients range from government bodies like the National Arts Council and the National Heritage Board to MNCs like Unilever to indie startups like HAYSTAKT.

Job Description

WHY WE NEED YOU:

Right now, we’re a small operation – there are three key members in GRAIN and we run everything from pitching to producing to client servicing.

So far, this has allowed us to keep our team lean and retain a high level of flexibility and focus. However, we’re growing fast and need to take things to the next level – with more output, more quality, more creativity and more horsepower.

To do this, we need a passionate, young and bold new collaborator on board.

THE POSITION:

We’re looking for someone to handle the client-facing aspect of the business – you’ll be involved in identifying new business opportunities, researching and crafting proposals, brainstorming and liaising with our clients to understand their needs.

How will we know you’re a good fit? You should:

  • Be a fan of film – you should be interested in filmmaking; it’s a plus if you have some knowledge of video production (editing/filming).
  • Be a fan of our work – we’re still learning and getting better at what we do, but if you’ll be working closely with us, you’ll need to love the ideas that are at the core of what we do and want to create more stories with us.
  • Have strong bias for action – we’d like to work with someone self-driven who isn’t afraid to speak up, who chooses doing over waiting, who is determined and responsible and who is always thinking about how things can be done better.
  • Have excellent communication skills – not only verbal (what you say) but also non-verbal communication (how you say it – which includes inflection, gestures and contextual awareness). You should be able to do this in-person, over email and over the phone.
In return, you can expect to be contributing as a fully empowered partner. You’ll never be doing someone else’s grunt work – we’ll guide you along the way and introduce you to how the industry works, but in the shortest time possible, we’ll have you developing and leading initiatives with total ownership.
