eMobi Pte. Ltd. – Junior Front End Developer / Webmaster – Internship

We are looking for a passionate & high-energy junior front-end developer / webmaster to join our team at eMobi based in Singapore. This position will suit a junior webmaster with a strong creative capability both conceptually and in the development process. The right candidate must have a strong knowledge of basic web programming techniques with an eye for design.

Reporting into the Head of Department this role will see you take the responsibility for the technical implementation of the wide portfolio of e-commerce sites including landing pages, micro sites, wordpress, joomla websites etc. To be considered for this role, you will be a proven and driven webmaster as well as having a good grasp of web design and implementation principals. Candidates must have a strong commercial awareness, be able to work as part of a team and be able to communicate at all levels as well across all functions.

YOUR MAIN DUTIES:

1. PSD to HTML / PHP conversion. Projects include: building mobile responsive landing pages, microsites, mockups, email newsletters etc.
2. Customization of WordPress-based websites including but not limited to: setting up templates, plugins, extensions
3. Ensure web applications are usable in a consistent manner across major browsers and devices
4. Test, debug and maintain new and existing portfolio of web and mobile entities
5. Develop, implement and document interfaces and features in collaboration with various stakeholders
6. Help build and refine documentation, including workflows, checklists and style guides
7. Develop detailed specification documents with clear project deliverables and timeline, and to ensure timely completion of deliverables
8. Determine appropriate architecture, technical specifications and make relevant recommendations for best practice
9. Communicate to the project managers with efficiency and accuracy any progress and/or delays
10. Engage in outside-the-box thinking to provide high value-of-service to the membership
11. Keep up to date on emerging technologies or applications and the opportunities to integrate them into operations and activities, and communicate this to others in the team
12. Management of hosting environment, including database administration
13. Optimisation of existing & new applications for maximum speed, scalability and security
14. Responsible for monitoring web applications and providing improved coverage if necessary
15. Responsible for ensuring web environment is secure & operational on a daily basis

YOUR ATTRIBUTES:

1. Knowledge of PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, CSS, HTML and XHTML
2. Ability to write clean, well-structured CSS and use CSS for mobile responsive layouts
3. Knowledge of cross-browser issues and ability to debug CSS/HTML
4. Experience in coding modular, object-oriented JavaScript a plus
5. Experience in mobile application development, web development, or general scripting a big plus
6. Familiarity with one or two open source CMSs; WordPress, Drupal, Joomla
7. Working familiarity of databases (MySQL, Oracle)
8. Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamwaver
9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
10. Able to work autonomously and within a team
11. Must be organised, efficient and have good attention to detail
12. Must be able to show initiative to get the job done
13. Currently enrolled in a Computer Science (or related) program at an accredited university
