Job Description
About The BedRock Movement:
BedRock is positioned as an international travel brand for 22- to 29-year-old flashpackers – travellers who subscribe to the backpacking ethos but who want to travel with a little more style and a lot more technology. This is a growing and underserved market of travellers who are caught in the middle of roughing it out backpacker-style and living it up in luxury.
The BedRock Movement is a collection of your voices and travel experiences. Tell us the things you loved about your last travel experience, the things you hated and what you expect on your next trip. Based on this feedback you help us to collect from the Movement, we will build a network of establishments that suit the flashpacking lifestyle. Your role is central to understanding our target audience and to keep them engaged with BedRock’s mission to be the champion for this group that is stuck in the middle.
Job Description:
As the Community Manager of the BedRock Movement, you will be driving the outreach and engagement efforts to identify BedRockers and sustain a conversation with them. The Movement aims to gather these flashpackers and understand their needs, gripes and travel style. Using social media tools, you will direct traffic to the BedRock Movement site, where visitors can contribute short snippets of travel experiences a la a collective micro-blog.
Some of your duties include:
1. Using Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube and a blogger network to reach out to this segment of travellers
2. Initiating conversation topics on the hype site
3. Editing and moderating submissions on the hype site
4. Identifying top contributors and engaging them to be evangelists for the BedRock movement
5. Reporting engagement statistics
Requirements:
1. Avid traveller who lives and understands the BedRock lifestyle
2. Strong interest in social media marketing with large networks or followings on social media platforms
3. Strong writing and communications skills; highly proficient in the English language
4. Knowledge in web marketing and PR preferred
5. Knowledge of and interest in staying up to date on new social media tools and best practices
6. Ability to manage multiple channels of communication while maintaining the BedRock brand
7. Outgoing personality and openness to learning about new community engagement and social media tools
