Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary of Functions

The Accounts Assistant is predominantly responsible for assisting the Senior Account Executive with junior accounting duties. An Accounts Assistants work will include basic book keeping activities, working with sales and purchase ledgers and running calculations to ensure that records and payments are correct. This incumbent will also be required to perform administration duties.

Core Responsibilities include the following:

An Accounts Assistant will be expected to perform any of the following tasks:

  • Reconciling finance accounts
  • Maintaining spreadsheets
  • Credit control
  • Preparing statutory accounts
  • Cash allocation
  • Sales order processing
  • Managing daily post in and out
  • Handling and writing cheques
  • Receiving and processing all invoices, expense forms and requests for payment
  • Verifying calculations working with the Accounts system
  • Reconciliation of Direct Debit mandates
  • Managing petty cash transactions
  • Perform other related duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have either CAT, LCCI or ACCA – Level 1 / AAT certificate or related accountancy qualification
  • Must have basic understanding of accountancy and book-keeping
  • At least 2 years of relevant working experience
  • Strong IT skills with proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to work under pressure, maintaining accuracy whilst achieving timescales – keen eye for detail
  • A strong team player with a collaborative approach to work
