The YWCA of Singapore is the oldest women’s organisation in Singapore. Founded in 1875, the YWCA has always been committed to meeting the needs of our society through her active involvement in community services and its many programmes and activities. Over the years, the work of the Association has developed and includes the following:-

  • FORT CANNING LODGE, our social enterprise which offers affordable accommodation and meeting, training and seminar room facilities in the heart of Dhoby Ghaut.
  • 10 CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTRES & 1 KINDERGARTEN located islandwide, which provide quality and accessible early childcare and education services.
  • Financial Assistance Programme subsidises school fees for needy children attending our Child Development Centres who are unable to afford the full fees.
  •  “Yes U Can…Be Included!” is an integration and early intervention programme for preschool children with mild special needs, providing them with mainstream preschool education in a regular childcare environment, with the purpose of integrating them into normal schools.
  • Hungry No More: Meals-on-Wheels for Elderly and Children distributes free nutritious lunches and dinners for elderly and disabled, and children respectively from low-income families every weekday.
  • Hungry No More: Sustenance for Families distributes dry rations to needy families every month.
  •  YWCA Kids’ Club is an enrichment programme of workshops and outings catering to Meals-on-Wheels for Children programme beneficiaries to realise their potential through social, emotional, moral and academic support.
  •  Bursary Scheme awards bursaries to Meals-On-Wheels for Children programme beneficiaries to motivate them to improve their studies and affirm their talent in other areas like sports and art.
  •  Workz-On-Wheels imparts useful craft and life skills to build the confidence and self-esteem of children and youths, aged between five to 16, who live in various children’s and girls’ homes.
  •  YWCA Safety Alert is a first-of-its-kind free mobile phone App developed by the YWCA as part of its public education effort to promote the safety and well-being of women in Singapore.
  •  Youth Centre is a “home away from home” drop-in sanctuary for youths between 13 to 18 years old, living within the vicinity of Outram, to hang out, make new friends and acquire handy skills during the school holidays.
  • YWCA HOUSE caters for girls between 18 -25 years old who do not have a conducive home environment to return to after leaving children’s or girls’ homes. This hostel will serve as a platform to practise independence before they step out into the society.
Job Description

  • Assist in the development and planning of the YWCA’s 140th Anniversary book
  • Conduct research at the National archives, news agencies and other relevant sources
  • Compile all research and archived materials
  • Support the committee in content creation for the book
  • Other ad-hoc duties and assignments

Requirements:

  • Excellent command of English
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications
  • Independent and proactive
  • Meticulous, organized and able to work well with tight deadlines
