Program Overview

USA Work & Travel offers International students the opportunity to live and work in the U.S for up to 4 months during their official summer breaks from university classes. Students work in seasonal and temporary positions in hotels, inns, amusement parks, national parks, retail stores and ski resorts, among other type of businesses.

The purpose of the Work & Travel program is to provide international university students with opportunities to :

• Interact with U.S citizens and experience U.S culture while sharing their own cultures with Americans they meet.
• Travel om and learn about the United States
• Work in jobs that require minimal training and are seasonal or temporary in order to earn funds to help with their living expenses.

Eligibility Requirements :

You must :

• Full-time university students age between 18 to 28 years old.
• Be a full-time tertiary student in Singapore (this applies for local and foreign students) Or a final year, final semester student graduating from a full time course
• be in a course of study that is at least two years in duration
• A valid passport for up to 1 year
• Undergo an interview before you can be accepted on the program
• A Committed Program Period from 15th May to 30 August 2014

Job Placement Program

Students who participate in a Pre-Arranged Program are guaranteed ONE JOB OFFER. Most jobs are seasonal or temporary unskilled to semi-skilled positions, in the following industries hotels & resorts, amusements parks, national parks, retail stores and ski resorts.

Job Placements Types :

• Housekeeping. May include doing laundry, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, changing and making beds.
• Kitchen help. Will Include dishwashing.
• Sales Help : Selling of food & beverages, merchandise
• Amusements Park : May include cleaning public areas and bathrooms, selling fast food, and operating games or rides.

• The types of jobs that are also held by young people in the U.S during the school breaks.

Allowances / Stipends / Working Hours

You will receive a min. wage of US$7.25 per hour and average work hours between 30 to 40 hours per week. Therefore monthly you will be getting an paid allowance of range US$870 to US$1,120 for non-tipped positions. For tipped positions (such as a waitstaff), the national min. is US$2.13 per hour.
