Job Description
Industrial Attachment Program Description

The 6-month program is designed to develop highly motivated junior technologists to solve complex problems in partnership with the business through innovative technology solutions. You will be exposed to business problems that are unique to the market-leading commodities trading franchise in Morgan Stanley.

Our software are developed on Windows, UNIX and Linux, using Java, C#, C++ and Perl. Our developers build applications by leveraging a combination of in-house and third-party frameworks and infrastructures –such as relational databases, global XML/SOAP messaging infrastructure, high-availability clusters, and highly scalable distributed systems.

Former Interns and Industrial Attachments have worked on projects involving many trading and risk-reporting systems such as oil blending decision optimization, scheduling activities audit with indicative PL and web portal.

As an Industrial Attachment, you will be given the following responsibilities:

- Enhance trading/risk systems from front to back, to improve user’s experience

- Design and develop infrastructure tools to enhance the support of business

High-performing individuals may receive an invitation to interview for a full-time position as a Morgan Stanley technologist in the ISGT Graduate Training Program in Shanghai. The Industrial Attachment Program provides a solid foundation on which to build a career in technology at Morgan Stanley.

Selection Process

Candidates will be selected for a written test based on their technical skills and work experience demonstrated on their resume. Those selected after the test will be invited to 2-3 sessions of in-person interviews at our Singapore office.

Skills Required

- Candidates must graduate after July 2013

- Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Science and Technology, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related science or engineering discipline that is particularly relevant

- Candidates should be comfortable with at least one of these programming languages (Java, C#, ASP.NET, C++) and either of the 2 platforms (Windows, Unix/Linux)

- A big plus if candidates demonstrates in-depth knowledge in any of SQL, SOAP/XML, Hibernate, or Spring

- Candidates should process excellent problem-solving and analytic skills, outstanding academic performance, strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team

- Consideration of our program requires English proficiency
