Who We Want
- You are a self-starter. You are driven and prepared to make sacrifices in order to learn and succeed.
- You are not a namby-pamby wimp who just wants to remain within your comfort zone. You are adaptable, ready to try out new things, and willing to work with people from different cultures and backgrounds.
- You are passionate about start-ups (and maybe even aspire to become an entrepreneur one day).
- You are socially confident and enjoy meeting and speaking to people. You are good at maintaining relationships. You understand basic human psychology. You also have empathy and can easily relate to how others feel.
- You can take shit. You get shit done.
Who We Do Not Want:
- You are a social recluse, and you shrivel up at the thought of having to speak to strangers. You are timid and passive. You only do things because everyone else is doing them. Your ideal job involves sitting behind a desk, staring at a screen full of numbers - and never having to make any human contact. You have zero friends and you spend Saturday nights staring at your fake plant. You never get asked out on dates (and obviously you never ask anyone out either). You never get invited to parties. Your social life solely comprises stalking your friends on Facebook - all 7 of them.
- You are a shameless social climber who aspires to drive a Maserati, live in Sentosa Cove, and pop bottles at Pangaea all decked out in Hermes. You have rich brat friends and you envy them so much you'd be willing to give an arm and a leg just to have their life for a day. Now you simply want to pad your CV with something 'cool'. Or maybe you are applying for an internship at a start-up because your first choices were McKinsey and Goldman Sachs, but they rejected you - and now you're desperate for something to put on your CV. Well we have news for you. McKinsey and Goldman Sachs can afford to have passengers on their team. We can't. They rejected you for a reason, and we will most likely reject you for the same reason. Save yourself the trouble, you and your ilk aren't welcome here!
- You do not enjoy thinking or making decisions. You do not enjoy offering suggestions. Because all of these entail risk. You are afraid of risks. The riskiest thing you've ever done is to tell a girl (or boy) that you liked her (or him) in secondary school, and because you were rejected, you've been afraid to put yourself on the line ever since. You want to be told exactly what to do and how to do it, so that if you screw up, you can blame someone else. We're sorry but you are looking in the wrong place - perhaps you should try applying for a position in the civil service? We hear such behaviour is actually rewarded there.
